The "world's best ice-climber" comes from Austria. To be specific he was born in a 700-soul town called "Schwendt" in lower Tyrol. World-champion in ice-bouldering 2007, numerous first-ascents in rock and ice, scratching and topping the upper ends of the scales. The first Tyrolean that climbs 9a (Mongo). That's Markus Bendler! Whether he projects at his home-area the "Schleierwasserfall" or tries to conquer the glaciers and frozen waterfalls of this world, the 24-year old athlete is full of enthusiasm and willpower. But not only victories define this moving life. The death of a dear friend at his side, the near paralysis of his own brother while climbing. A dangerous passion it seems. And still Markus got the motivation to move forward and - to move upward! What are the origins of this immense will to overcome projects that threathen life and health? In half an hour "RealityCheck" is going to answer such and more questions in an interconnected way. As in real life the film weaves together personal background aswell as stunning first-ascents in rock and ice - searching for the ultimate answer to an ever present question. "What do I live for?"
